Writing a blog is not necessarily an easy thing.  We tell our clients to have blogs, but then I find that I struggle with writing about topics that are relevant and of interest.  Hence my choice for a blog topic.

Creative – right?  I simply thought I should put together a simple 1-2-3 on blog writing that can help others write remarkable blog entries.  So, here are my suggestions:

  • Always have a focus.  If your blog is about your product, then it should be informative and tell the reader about the product, its uses, exciting news, upcoming events and launches, etc.
  • If your blog is more service oriented, it should focus on showcasing your expertise.  First you need to establish who you are.  Then you can comment on current events, provide advice, answer outstanding questions or commonly asked questions and showcase insight on anything new and innovative that you are doing.
  • Current events or observations are great for blog entries.
  • Create a voice.  If you are sarcastic, use that in your blog.  People like blogs because they are more personal than reading a newspaper.  You get to know the person, their thoughts and personality.  So let it shine!

There are so many different kinds of blogs.  However the ones that do well in my mind are the types of blogs that write about interesting topics, showcase breaking news, or share an expertise.

Just remember, blogging should be fun and not a chore.

A side note:  If you are a company and just starting to blog, remember the more you blog the better for business.   If your blog is attached to your website it will help with search engine optimization (SEO).
