The Cubs’ offense was too much for the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday. Kosuke Fukudome had three hits and broke the game open with a three-run homer, Alfonso Soriano and Carlos Pena also went deep, and the Cubs beat the Brewers 12-7. Chicago took three of the four games in the series.

He said he didn’t need it and wasn’t looking for it. But the public support Mike Quade got this week from Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts was welcome news to the first-year manager, who has drawn increasing criticism in recent weeks. ‘‘It has been a tough run, and we all know that,’’ Quade said. ‘‘It’s always nice to have your people on board. I appreciate everything. And Tom Ricketts is running a hell of an organization, so that’s always nice to hear.’’
