Silver shovels gleamed in the sunlight as officials from the village of Downers Grove and Midwestern University broke ground on a new medical facility on Lacey Road Monday morning.

The $120 million facility, which will open its doors in 2013, is expected to bring additional medical care and hundreds of jobs to the area. While it serves as a training ground for future medical practitioners, the facility will also serve to provide low-cost dental care to the community.
