Everyday of his life, Max Lacewell found some reason to say, “today is the ‘best day evuh.’” Today, his legacy and ever positive attitude lives on in support of pediatric brain cancer research and funding:
During Max Lacewell’s short life, he celebrated the simple things each day.
“During Max’s treatment, he found some reason every day for it to be the ‘best day evuh,'” his mother, Leanne Lacewell, said. “He literally said that phrase, whether it was a new box of Legos or sushi or anything related to ‘Star Wars.’ The little things, his family and his friends made it the ‘best day evuh” for him.”
“We’ve donated, to date, $550,000 to Lurie Children’s. Our goal is $1 million, and that will establish the Max Lacewell Research Scholar that will be dedicated to the study of brain tumors at Lurie,” she said. “I believe we have a candidate that’s perhaps may be coming to the hospital in the fall, maybe a little later, I’m not sure. But we’ve talked to a couple of people at the hospital and there is someone that they are speaking with. So hopefully that person will be coming in soon to start doing the work we’re funding.”
