While some members of his profession spend their weekends on a golf course, Carlton R. Marcyan, a partner at Schiller, DuCanto & Fleck, can be found, weather permitting, on Lake Shore Drive. His preferred means of transportation? A motorcycle.
As a member of the Chicago Attorney Motorcyclists (CAM), Marcyan combines his love of visiting new places with supporting philanthropic initiatives.
CAM is composed of over 30 attorneys and their best attended motorcycling events are charity rides that benefit causes such as the Wounded Heroes Foundation and juvenile diabetes research.
“The motorcycle folks are very, very familial,” Marcyan said. “Once you meet a couple of them, suddenly you get to meet everybody.”
Recently, Marcyan took his motorcycling international, returning last week from a two-week motorcycle journey through the Pyrenees Mountains in Spain and France. The mountains often cut through clouds, so he had to ride carefully in the reduced visibility.
“If you’re a lawyer, you either golf or do something else,” Marcyan said. “I do motorcycling because I’m not a great golfer.”
