Cashner, Wells throwing to hitters this week
By Carrie Muskat / MLB.com
CHICAGO — Cubs pitchers Andrew Cashner and Randy Wells, both on the disabled list, threw two innings each of live batting practice on Monday in Mesa, Ariz., at the team’s extended spring training complex. https:///chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/print.jsp?ymd=20110510&content_id=18881620¬ebook_id=18882168&vkey=notebook_chc&c_id=chc
Champions they ain’t – your 2011 Chicago Cubs
In a division where the Pittsburgh Pirates are over .500, the Cubs are alive by a thread – they’re 15-18, 4 games out of first, relying on the soft arms of pitchers who shouldn’t be pitching at the major league level and the weak bats of hitters who are either overpaid or one-year-wonders at best.
It’s hard to feel disgusted at them by this shoddy start to a season, though – after all, really, who expected more? https:///www.chicagonow.com/blogs/grota-cubs/2011/05/champions-they-aint—-your-2011-chicago-cubs.html
Albert Pujols, welcome to Wrigley Field

Is this Jim Hendry’s Last Stand with the Cubs?
John Arguello As I’ve said many times in the past, this is a transitional year for the Cubs. Many of the Cubs financial mistakes are coming off the books after this season — up to $60M worth. The team will have a lot of financial flexibility heading into a strong free agent offseason class that includes first basemen Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder. The question is, who will be the guy in charge of completing the transition? Will it be Jim Hendry or will it be someone else? https:///www.chicagonow.com/blogs/cubs-den/2011/05/is-this-jim-hendrys-last-stand-with-the-cubs.html
