Bleacher tickets for premium games at Wrigley Field cost $72, which seems like a lot before you pass through the gates on Sheffield Avenue, under the right-field stands. Just inside on Saturday, like a shark behind glass at an aquarium, was Alex Rodriguez, sharpening his swing in the batting cage for anyone to see.

Two weeks after Metra launched its “Quiet Car” operation, some passengers are raving about the peace they say the program brings, while others say the cars really aren’t so quiet.
Recent samplings of quiet car rides on the inbound Milwaukee District/North Line train proved mixed — on a June 12 ride, the conductor had to ask passengers to quiet down or move twice. A June 20th ride on the same line was fairly quiet. “It’s just a wonderful environment,” said Tanya Pytlak, who works in market research downtown.

Residents are encouraged to weigh in on their priorities as the DuPage County Board begins work on the fiscal 2012 budget. In a survey available on the DuPage County website, visitors have a chance to rank which services are most important to them and warrant top priority during the budget process.
“During these tough economic times, it is very important that the county streamline spending yet continue to offer quality services that residents depend on,” County Board Chairman Dan Cronin said in a press release. “The county budget is made up of taxpayer money and residents should have an opinion on how their money is spent.”
